1-Year Note from our Executive Director

Dear McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center Family,

As I come up on one year in my role as Executive Director, I’ve found myself doing a lot of reflection. This past year has challenged me, stretched me, and reaffirmed for me just how special this organization and community truly are.

Leadership transitions are never seamless, and stepping into this role has been both an honor and a learning experience. I want to sincerely thank our Board, our staff, the multi-disciplinary team, our community and our stakeholders for the patience, understanding, and grace you’ve shown me during this period of change. Your willingness to stay engaged, honest, and committed has meant more than I can properly express.

Over the past year, we’ve worked to strengthen long-standing partnerships while also building new ones. These relationships matter deeply, not just to the success of our organization, but to the children and families we serve every day. I am proud of the collaboration, trust, and shared purpose that continue to guide this work.

I also want to acknowledge that progress doesn’t always happen as quickly as we wish. I appreciate the understanding that meaningful change takes time, conversation, and sometimes discomfort. My commitment remains to lead with transparency, to listen carefully, and to keep moving us forward in a way that is thoughtful, sustainable, and rooted in our mission.

I am deeply grateful to work alongside people who care so passionately about this work, our children and our community. Thank you for believing in our mission, in this organization, and in me as we continue to grow together.

With sincere appreciation,

Mrs. Erin Bates
