In my 11 years of teaching, I have seen all kinds of children walk in and out of my classroom doors. In that time, while there have been so many stories to celebrate, there have also been some incredibly disheartening situations of students having to endure neglect and abuse, both physical and mental. I have seen the tremendous and long-lasting effects of these traumatic experiences, and their impact on the development of these children.
Now that I am a mother myself, these situations hit even closer to home than ever before. That is why I am partnering with McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center to raise awareness and funds to battle this unspeakable community epidemic.
